Lt. Angelo Vaughn: 2024 Latin Times Magazines Amigo Award

LT VAUGHN IS VERY HONORED TO BE A RECIPIENT OF THE AMIGO AWARD


Lt. Angelo Vaughn, a member of the Lee County Sheriff's Office Community Response Unit knew two things in life what he wanted to be ever since he was in the 6th Grade, a Marine and a Police Officer.   


Lt. Angelo Vaughn grew up in Northeast Ohio where he attended Akron North High School where he was a three sport athlete in Football, Wrestling and Track & Field.  Lt. Vaughn's biggest accomplishment's besides graduating from high school was making the Akron Beacon Journal All City Wrestling Team. 


In the fall of 1983, Lt. Vaughn enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and while serving his country, his first duty station was at the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston South  Carolina after two years, he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 8th Marines at Camp Lejeune North Carolina where he served as a Weapons Platoon Leader. 


In 1987, after receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps, Lt. Vaughn packed his two seabags, relocated to Lee County Florida, and began making a life of his own.  In 1994 Lt. Vaughn joined the Lee County Sheriff's Office and within his 30 years of law enforcement has worked in Road Patrol, Community Policing, Public Information Officer, and School Resource Officer. Lt. Vaughn enjoys being with family and dear friends when he's not working as well as being a volunteer wrestling coach, swim coach, and most recently a Golf coach. Lt. Vaughn feels very blessed to serve his nation and community.   Lt. Vaughn believes that life is a marathon and not a sprint.  Always define who you are and pursue your goals and dreams with conviction.
