“We cannot fully succeed in our country unless we choose to use our life to help others and give back what we have been given. We have a responsibility to raise our young–especially our Hispanic youth. We need to inspire them — we need to remind them of who they are. My experience tells me that mentoring is often left to chance for some, but we need to ensure all youth who need a mentor have access to one. There is nobody more nurtured and prepared to lead us into an exemplary future than the Hispanic 100 Foundation Mentor program,” said Espinosa.
This year Hispanic 100 Foundation honors actor Danny Trejo. Trejo has starred in dozens of blockbuster and cult classic hits such as Sons of Anarchy, Desperado, Heat, From Dusk Till Dawn, Con Air, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, the Spy Kids movies, Grindhouse, Machete, Machete Kills and many others.
Past Hispanic 100 Lifetime Achievement Award honorees include actor and activist Esai Morales; chair of the Board, US Hispanic Media, Inc., Monica Lozano; singer, Vicky Carr; actor, Tony Plana and the Oscar nominated actor Edward James Olmos.
